Lewer: Captain Decision Still To Be Made

Alan Lewer is pleased with the work done so far but admits they are still work in progress during pre-season

The Southport boss who took on the role at the start of pre-season is aiming to take the side back to the Vanarama National League, writes Tom Feaheny.

So far no captain has been named for the 2017/18 season, with Lewer confirming they won't rush into making a decision.

"I am giving it to different people each game, I want to see how they react to having that and we will see how it happens."

One of the new signings for the club is John Paul Kissock, who was previously a Sandgrounder before where he made 28 League appearances for the club over two seasons, Lewer told the club's website he was pleased to get that deal over the line.

"What I like about him is he gets on the ball, he makes things happen, that is the kind of calibure that we are trying to attract now."

Lewer admitted that he is still on the lookout for new faces to join and gave this update.

"I am still after a striker that is ongoing, we have a couple of lads we will look at."
