Veteran Striker Calls Time On Career

Legendary Conference striker Tim Sills has confirmed his retirement from football.

The 37 year old has had a glittering career since first pulling on his boots for Camberley Town 20 years ago.

He played at Wembley three times and is regarded as one of the best players to play in the league in recent years.

Scoring nearly 200 goals in two decades in the game, he is probably best remembered for his time at Aldershot where manager Terry Brown described his as “the perfect pro”.

He couldn’t quite take the Shots into the Football League but his time would come.

His infamous man-in-a-mask goal for Torquay United against Cambridge in the 2009 promotion final was his crowning glory.

He also played with success for Hereford United, Rushden, Basingstoke Town and Kingstonian.

Sills confirmed on his twitter page that he is to hang up his scoring boots accompanied by a video of his big moment at Wembley for the Gulls.

He played last season for local club Blackfield and Langley. In April, he told of his plans to open a soccer school for young adults and children.

“I was lucky enough to live my childhood dream of playing professional football and I wanted to go into a career after finishing where I can really make a difference to people,” Sills said, who is now a teacher.

“Running our new football academy allows me a specific opportunity to pass on my football knowledge and experience to young men and women who want to improve their ability while also studying at sixth form,” he told the Daily Echo.
