Law backing his youngsters to thrive and survive

Nicky Law reckons his young Alfreton Town side will soon adapt to the Vanarama National League North despite taking just one point from their first two games.

After rebuilding the side following relegation in April, Law blames a 1-0 defeat at home to Lowestoft Town in midweek after last Saturday's 2-2 draw at Bradford Park Avenue on his youngsters still getting used to each other.

The Alfreton boss, pictured, said: “There are frustrations working with a young group of players and it is going to be a learning curve. I am sure we will be OK.

"Some of the players have never learned how to play meaningful football. They come out of these academies and have never had to play the game seriously.

"We set out with the sole aim to bring young lads in for whom it is not all about money. We want to try to develop players and fund ourselves by selling them on.

"Yes, it is going to be frustrating at times but, to be fair to the fans, I think they understand that it is going to take time."
