Lathrope Overwhelmed By Help From Football `Family`

By Steve Whitney

Woking`s injured midfielder Damon Lathrope has been overwhelmed by the tremendous support he has received from the club and the football family in general.

Lathrope went in for a 50/50 challenge against Boreham Wood in February that left the midfielder in agony and having to face retirement.

Since then, Woking and some of his former clubs have raised significant funds to help the stricken player.

The club received the following message from Lathrope: "I just want to say a massive thank you to everyone for the amazing support and reaction to my statement. There are so many good people out there: fans, players, managers, and directors.

“The support I've had has been overwhelming.

“I've been so humbled with the responses and I've been reading every single message. It was always far more important to me that I was respected as a person first, and player second.

“I'm doing great, seven operations in, with a fair few to go, and i'll hopefully be out and back home with my family in the next two to three weeks, all being well.

“With everyone's show of love and support at the forefront, I'm feeling very positive and ready to attack the rest of my journey”.
