Last Gasp Joy For Bignot's Chester

By David Richardson

There's no better way to win a football match than in the last minute and after throwing away a two-goal lead, Chester enjoyed it even more.

Particularly as it meant they moved out of the bottom four, leapfrogging Barrow in the process, who they beat 3-2 last night.

Jordan Archer and Reece Hall-Johnson gave Chester a commanding lead after 25 minutes but in the two minutes of added time in the first-half Abdillahie Yussuf got one back and then Byron Harrison equalised.

However, the Blues saved their best for last in the 94th minute as Lucas Dawson struck the winner to spark joyous scenes.

"We had a goal after five games, we wanted to be out of the bottom four and we've done that," said Bignot. "It's the first step we've taken and we're happy with that.

"Everybody was superb first 45 minutes, the football we played we were worthy of a 2-0 lead but obviously we had a sucker blow coming in at half-time with two quick goals.

"I thought second half showed character. The game had everything today in answering all the questions I've been asking this group and they came through it.

"We care. The players care, we're winners and we don't like losing football matches."
