Lambs Only Let Down By Set Piece Switch Off

Tamworth manager Andy Morrell cursed his side’s lack of focus from set pieces against Salford - especially as his players were working hard on them in training.

The Lambs lost 2-1 to the Vanarama National League North leaders but their manager knows it could easily have gone the other way.

“I don’t know what to say about the game really,” Morrell said. “First half we were great and played very well.

“But the second half we weren’t as good as the first. We were undone by a set piece and we didn’t quite have the energy levels we had before the break.

“But overall If we play like that we will win more games than we lose.

“Salford are strong, powerful and well organised all over the pitch. They have a lot of quality. I felt if we could play and move the ball quickly then we would cause them problems and we did,” Morrell added.

“But we haven’t been able to do that in the second half and that’s why we haven’t won the game.

“I get bored of saying it but this league is all about fine lines. We have been practicing set pieces all week and knew they were strong at them, that’s the disappointment.

“But I think the fans saw we gave it a go and they applauded us off after so it’s good to see that what we tried to do was appreciated.”
