The Lambs boss was in attendance at the National League pre-season meeting on Wednesday at Walsall FC.
He told us he was pleased with the business the club have done and that he was positive about their preparation for the new season, which gets under way in two weeks’ time with a home fixture against Bradford Park Avenue.
Losing striker Danny Newton to Stevenage may have hindered the club over the close season but Morrell is still hoping to get one more forward player in.
“Losing Newts was a blow, of course it was,” said Morrell who has played for Wrexham, Coventry, Blackpool and Bury.
“He scored 29 goals for us last season but it’s the nature of the beast that when players have a record like that, they’re going to get attention.
“I think Stevenage is a perfect fit for him because I think he’ll play games, which is what he really needs to kick on.”
Morrell added: “We’re still looking to add to the squad if the right player comes along. There’s a lot of quality at this level.
“We need to step up our levels now, there’s not long until the start of the season. We play Solihull on Saturday, they’re a division above us, and it’s a really important next step for the squad.”
