Kinnear`s Summer Overhaul Continues

The summer overhaul by Chris Kinnear at Dover Athletic has continued with the signing of left-back Femi Ilesanmi and striker Ryan Bird on one-year deals.

Twenty-six-year-old Ilesanmi (pictured) made forty-five appearances for league rivals Boreham Wood last season.

He joined Wood ahead of the 2016/17 season after playing seventy times for then-League Two side York City.

The 6`1” Ilesanmi began his career at AFC Wimbledon before joining Queens Park Rangers.

The Southwark-born defender then spent a brief spell in Kent with then-Ryman League side Ashford Town before signing for Dagenham & Redbridge in 2010.

In a four-year spell with the Daggers, Ilesanmi, who played in Nigeria’s in-house friendly at Barnet last April, made 133 appearances in League Two and cup competitions.

Newport County striker Ryan Bird has become Dover’s eighth new summing signing and second on Tuesday evening.

The 6`4” target man put pen-to-paper on a one-year deal with an option for further year.

Bird scored 6 goals in nineteen appearances for the League Two side last season, including one on his debut against Dover`s new league rivals Hartlepool United in January.

He joined the Welsh club from National League side Eastleigh where he scored 7 times in eighteen appearances, including one against Dover in a 4-2 win at the Silverlake in August.

Four of those goals came in Eastleigh’s 6-0 Emirates FA Cup final qualifying round win against Evo-Stik League South & West side North Leigh in October.

Bird started his career in non-League football with Burnham where he scored 133 goals in 340 appearances.

He joined Portsmouth in 2013 and left for Cambridge United the following year.

A move to Yeovil Town followed before he signed for Eastleigh last summer.

He has also spent time on loan at Havant & Waterlooville, back at Cambridge and Hartlepool.

Kinnear has now signed Tobi Sho-Silva, Connor Essam, Manny Parry, Kane Richards, Mitch Brundle, Jamie Allen, Bird and Ilesanmi.
