Kidderminster Harriers and Oxford City are celebrating tonight after getting it right when it mattered the most.
After the twists and trauma of the Saturday’s Promotion Final, the South and North showpieces were ultimately pretty straight forward.
Oxford created history and will play in Step 1 for the first time even after a stunning first half ripped the heart out of St Albans City.
They won 4-0 after a devastating opening 45 minutes in front of a sold out Marsh Lane.
Kidderminster return after seven years away after dominating Brackley Town, who fail in the play-offs again.
Sitting 14th in early April, their stunning transformation resulted in a first promotion in over 20 years.
Ashley Hemmings scored twice to fire the Harriers up after three away wins having overcome Alfreton and King’s Lynn Town.
This was their ninth win in a row and the Harriers reap the rewards after sticking with manager Russ Penn.
Captain Shane Bryne said: “It means the world to everyone here, we started the season poorly but what an ending!”
