Kevin Davies Wants Southport To Build On First Win

Southport boss Kevin Davies says making it back to back wins would be crucial as the side look to move clear of the relegation places and then build further.

Four points from the two games against Chorley sees Southport three points clear of the relegation places, writes Tom Feaheny.

They next face FC United of Manchester on Sunday looking to make it six points from the two games.

"I'm delighted, we asked the lads to build on the Boxing Day performance and we have done just that," Davies told the club's website.

"I'm delighted to have that first win, it has taken time to build but now we want to make it back to back victories."

"The players we have brought in has added to the quality, I am very proud of the performance, we worked hard and battled away.

"The fans want to see a gutsy performance and we have performed well as a team and with individual performances as well

"Everyone is taking on board what we are trying to do, Jon (McCarthy) is giving clear instructions for the defence, we have put in a display we can build on."
