Fleet beat Orient 2-1 in the live BT Sport game tonight - and after blowing a 2-0 lead to lose 6-2 to Doncaster Rovers in the FA Cup they knew there couldn’t be a repeat performance.
Kedwell says what went on seven days ago ensured they held firm for a vital three points against Orient.
He scored the second goal from Myles Weston’s cross after Andy Drury put the home side ahead early on.
James Dayton’s great late curling goal couldn’t prevent Fleet going up to 11th in the National League table.
“It was a great performance from everyone on the back of what happened to us last week,” he said on BT Sport.
“We threw it away against Doncaster Rovers in the FA Cup and that display showed how much that hurt us.
“We went 2-0 up but this time we knew we couldn’t throw it away.
“It was nervy towards the end and that’s why we love football but it’s how you have got to win games.
“Seven or eight weeks ago that would have been a draw - but we are better now, it’s a great three points for us.”
