Just 30 miles separate the two clubs, both looking for a return to the Football League.
Wrexham, unbeaten in six and two points of the top of the National League, head to a Rovers side that is yet to get going, in 17th place and could do with a derby win to kick start their season.
And Keates knows things can change quickly in the most unpredictable National League season yet.
"It's going to be a tough test, they've not started as I imagine they would have wanted to but the league's that tight, a couple of wins puts them straight back up there," he said.
"We're going to go there and all being well our game plan will come off.
"It's not an ordinary game. It's two of the bigger teams in the division with two big fanbases. It's a bit of a local derby so we'll have a big following behind us and hopefully we can put a performance on that makes the fans happy.
"It's just a case now of turning those draws into wins. We'll go with what we feel is our best game plan and give the lads some structure."
