In a match where they knew what the three points would mean, Wrexham put in a performance that meant they deserved the win and to now be number one, writes Tom Feaheny.
Goals from Chris Holroyd and captain Shaun Pearson meant it was a good trip back to Wales for the side.
"It was a really professional performance by us and I'm delighted with how we played," Keates said.
"We created chances and the fact is I've been there if you want to go up you have to win games at grounds like this.
"We took our chance early and then we're in control, it is another clean sheet as well and that is what pleases me is it was a complete team performance."
This is the first time the team have been top since November and Keates had this simple message about there league position.
"This is where we want to be and now we are here we want to stay."
