Improving City held high-flying Hampton & Richmond Borough to a goalless draw on Saturday - ending the Beavers’ run of eight straight National League South victories.
Oxford haven’t lost in the League since October but still sit just a point above the bottom three.
Jones recognises that his side have underperformed so far this season but is confident results will come ahead of an important double-header against Gloucester City on Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.
“The lads have got to be professional over the next two or three days to make sure we’re in the right physical condition to go and play in what will be a tough game of football on Tuesday,” the boss told Oxford’s Youtube channel.
“They’re very important games. Yes, our position in the league isn’t where we want to be but we’re seven League games unbeaten now since we had an open and honest chat with the lads.
“If you had watched the game, you wouldn’t have been able to tell that Hampton & Richmond were joint top and we were fourth from bottom.
“That gives us encouragement and we’ve got to keep concentrating on our performances. I think sooner or later we’ll pick up a couple of wins and climb up the table.”
