Jones: City Arguably Better Side At Eastbourne

Oxford City manager Mark Jones believes his side's 2-0 defeat at Eastbourne Borough yesterday was harsh.

City remains at the wrong end of the table after coming undone at Priory Lane.

Jones wouldn't criticise his players despite the result leaving the club fourth from bottom of the Vanarama National League South.

"I don't think we deserved that," said the Oxford manager.

"The story of the game was that they took their chances and we haven't taken ours.

"I think we probably had more chances than they did and it's frustrating but I'm not going to criticise the players.

"I really don't like to use the word unlucky but we were. We have had at least three golden chances to score and we haven't taken them. I don't think Eastbourne created too much until the closing stages when we are chasing the game."

The manager thinks it won't be long until the team starts climbing the table..

"There are plenty of positives to take. We are down there and when you are often you don't get the rub of the green," he added.

"I felt we played alright and I can't say we deserved to lose the match. You could argue that we were the better side for long parts of the game so we have just got to keep working at it and wait for things to change."
