Jones’ Boys Cause A Stir But He’s Not Surprised

Oxford City’s win at title-chasing Billericay Town may have shocked many, but not managed Mark Jones.

They came away from Essex with a fine 3-2 win - a result which prevented Dean Brennan’s side going top of the National League South.

It was the day’s surprise result but the manager knew his side had the capabilities of doing something special.

He told the club’s video service: “I thought it was thoroughly deserved.

“We came to Billericay knowing they hadn’t lost at home all season but we thought there was something there for us on the break.

“We thought we could come and get a good result and we managed to do that and take home a fantastic three points.

“It needed us to give everything and we certainly did that.

“The players deserve plenty of credit because Billericay are a strong side who know how to get results.

“We struggles early on but once we settled into the game we grew in confidence and played some great football.”
