The new Chester joint bosses have returned to the Ammies and called in a favour.
They have signed young striker Anthony Dudley and defender Danny Livesey on a season-long loan deals.
Johnson is “delighted” with the double dose of good news and thinks the Blues squad is starting to look the part.
Dudley is a player they have wanted for some time and with competition for places high in attack at Salford, this arrangement will allow the 21-year-old vital game time in a competitive division.
Livesey is at the other end of his career and the 33-year-old is hoping to earn another promotion.
Chester begin their National League North season with a home match against Spennymoor on August 4.
Johnson told the club’s official website: “We’ve had both players on our radar as soon as we came to Chester.
“For us it was a game of wait and see as we knew Salford City has their own ‘irons in the fire’ and we didn’t want to commit to other things when we knew these deals could potentially come off.
“Anthony’s goals to starts ratio is as good as anyone’s and he scored some massive goals for us last season. Quick, strong, direct, can play with his back to goal and work in behind defenders and has a fantastic strike on him.
“Danny is another very experienced player who has only ever known playing in teams that compete at the top end of leagues.”
