In a match played with a strong wind, and conditions that made it tricky to keep the ball in the air for too long, Salford went in 1-0 down at half-time but two goals in the space of four minutes ensured, they remain within touching distance of top, writes Tom Feaheny.
“This is a really important win for us, we’ve come to such a tough ground and got the three points,” Johnson said.
“We played against the conditions in the first half and to end the game with ten men, it shows the spirit in the group, we know at the end of the season we'll look back at this.”
“The substitutes made the difference, Gus showed a real determination to grab hold of the game, he takes a lot of credit from the win.”
Salford have their sight firmly aimed at first place, if they win their game in hand on Tuesday they do just that and would overtake Harrogate Town, Johnson said that is what they are focused on.
“We have made it clear the aim is top, promotion and to be a third of the way through the season and to be where we are shows we are in the right place.”
