Johnson And Morley Leave Spennymoor After FA Cup Exit

Spennymoor Town have confirmed the departure of joint managers Anthony Johnson and Bernard Morley.

The Moors were knocked out of the FA Cup to Clitheroe on Saturday.

The pair were appointed in late-December last year and leave the club 13th in the Vanarama National League North.

Club legend Jason Ainsley takes interim charge.

A short statement on the club’s website reads: “Spennymoor Town can confirm that First Team Managers Anthony Johnson and Bernard Morley have now left the Club by mutual consent.

“Also departing from The Brewery Field are First Team Coach Steve Halford and Goalkeeper Coach Martin Campbell, following discussions held on Monday.

“Club Ambassador Jason Ainsley has been installed as Interim Manager and he will be supported by James Curtis, Chris Mason and Jamie Chandler.

“The Club would like to place on record its sincere thanks to Anthony, Bernard, Steve and Martin for the hard work they put in during their time with us and wish them every success in the future.”
