The Stockport County boss was understandably in a much more upbeat mood following Tuesday’s impressive result.
County stopped Spennymoor rising to second in the National League North with a 3-1 win at Brewery Field.
It wasn’t only his attackers who had a good night. The Moors had hit 15 goals in their last two games and Stockport’s defensive structure proved to be the difference.
“After the weekend we put pressure on ourselves to come to Spennymoor and get a win,” Gannon told the club’s YouTube channel.
“If you look at their last two results (A 7-1 win at Alfreton and an 8-1 victory in the FA Trophy) you know they are a force. They’re a club who have invested well and one that is trying to grow.
“It was a massive effort with a touch of quality and a lot of resilience.
“With our front three we know we have goals in us but credit to the team for reducing them to very little,” he added.
“It was difficult for them to push the ball around and open us up. With their recent results we knew we would have to put in a very good all round performance.”
