Jeff Stelling Returns To Hartlepool Role

Sky Sports presenter Jeff Stelling has returned to his role as Honorary President of Hartlepool United.

The massive Pools fan stepped down towards the end of last season but, in an exclusive column for Tuesday’s matchday programme, Stelling revealed that he’d accepted an offer to return.

“When I stood down as Honorary Club President last April, it was because I did not approve of the club’s management, as some of you may have noticed,” Stelling wrote. “Five months on, and John Blackledge and Pam Duxbury have asked me to return. I am happy to say I have accepted.

“I had a long meeting with John and Pam before the Macclesfield game and I have to say I was impressed. Their ideas were the same as mine. First, stabilise the club to make sure that future generations have a club to follow. Second, give fans more say in running the club. And third, regain our Football League status as soon as possible.

“Pam and John need our support – and I will be giving mine.

“On the field, Craig Harrison and the team need our support too. I was a bit disappointed to read some of the comments on social media criticising him after just three games. He, and the team, need time.

“Tranmere Rovers lost two of their first four games last season and ended up with 95 points! We have a great run of games coming up and I think in two and a half weeks’ time, things could look very different.

“If not, address your complaints to the Club President!”
