Jansen's Magpies Could Take Flight In Busy Play-Off Race

Chorley’s return to action in the National League North was well worth the wait for boss Matt Jansen.

The Magpies hadn’t played for almost a month before Tuesday night’s clash against fellow play-off hopefuls Spennymoor Town.

Marcus Carver’s double sent Chorley on their way to a big 3-1 victory that has now moved them to within a point of the play-off spots.

Now Jansen is targeting a winning streak as his side look to establish themselves inside the top seven.

“It was just good to be playing again!” Jansen told Magpie TV. “You try and train and keep the lads fit but it’s been difficult.

“The first-half performance was probably the best of the season. Even when they scored, it drove us on and I loved that reaction.

“The likes of Nuneaton, Southport and Boston have gone on runs where they’ve won six or seven out of eight games.

“We’re a better team than those, I feel, so there’s no reason why for our last 11 games we can’t go on a similar run and propel ourselves into the play-offs.”
