Chorley boss Matt Jansen says bringing in striker Matty Hughes who was previously at AFC Fylde is a deal he has wanted to get done for a while.

He had been a regular for Dave Challinor's side while they challenged for promotion from the Vanarama National League North during the past two seasons.

Speaking to the club's website after the move had been completed Jansen was delighted to get the deal done.

“I’m really happy to see Matty join the club and he’s someone we’ve targeted for a while now. He’s sharp, bright and will be a good addition to the dressing room. Looking ahead he’s another attacking option, which we can use to our advantage throughout the season.”

He added: “That’s going to be massive and he’s already proven himself at non-league level with AFC Fylde. Obviously, we don’t just sign players for the sake of it and he’s definitely someone who will improve us going forward as we strive for success in the National League North yet again.”
