The Shaymen are battling to turn their season around having won only once in the National League since August.
They may not have grabbed victory in East London, but it felt like it for the manager.
After losing Josh Staunton to a first-half red card and going a goal down against a team who had won six of their previous seven games, Halifax summoned some strength.
The manager was thrilled and says their next victory won’t be far away.
“Great credit goes to the players obviously,” the Scot told the club’s website. “We were playing against an in-form side in Dagenham but we firmly believed.
“When you go down to ten men after 30 minutes, it makes the challenge even more difficult. I said to them at half time with ten men we stay in the game, we’ll win the game. With nine we wouldn’t.”
“True to their word the players did that and we got something from the game.”
He added: “With the group of players that we have, obviously suspensions and injuries have impacted us over the last two or three months.
“We’re tirelessly working, on a daily basis, to enhance the squad. We want sign players and create competition for places and try and prevent injuries and suspensions derailing what we’re trying to do.”
