It's Unbelievable Says Johnson As Chester Hold Firm

What is it they say about the sides who go on to do something special not playing well but finding ways to win?

Chester fans won’t be getting carried about but a hallmark of a champion as they dug deep to beat Nuneaton last night.

At 3-0 it wasn’t game over. Borough roared back and nearly caught them cold.

But it’s 11 games without defeat now and the Blues go to within a point of National League North leaders Chorley.

“11 unbeaten? It’s absolutely unbelievable,” said joint manager Anthony Johnson. “Considering the season the club had last year, it’s fantastic.

“We’ve come away with the win. We’ve talked about about finding a way and we found a way. They’ve not come back and equalised, we had to show a different type of mentality.

“We were under a lot of pressure, it’s been tough. We’ve been Saturday-Tuesday, Saturday-Tuesday for a while, and maybe we didn’t quite have the legs at the end to find that fourth goal.

“We should have put it to bed a 3-0, but they played like they haven’t got a care in the world.

“Had the weather been a little more even we may not have had the same issues in the second half. The wind was so so strong against us, but it was quite difficult to understand the second half.

“The sides at the bottom come here and play. We’ve got the walking wounded and we’ve had to play through it.”
