It’s The Magic Of The Cup! Our Top Trophy Picks For Saturday

By Tom Scott

The FA Trophy rolls into town again this weekend as our sides put their league campaigns on hold for another weekend.

We have ’picked out the ten most intriguing ties of the round involving our sides.

The current holders Brackley Town will be looking to continue their fine defence of their silverware and they face Hayes & Yeading at St James Park.

Kevin Wilkins men will have to have their wits about them – the visitors are no strangers to the National League and will be relishing their time in the spotlight.

All change at Hartlepool United this week as the club announced Richard Money as Matthew Bates’ successor.

He’s got a tough away day to contend with for his first game in charge away at Leamington.

Salford City will want to get their revenge over Steve Watson’s Gateshead after losing their previous meeting this season 2-1.

The Ammies lost for the first time in 20 league games last weekend and the Heed will have to be careful they don’t get on the wrong end of a response at the Peninsula Stadium.

York City will be hoping to forget their dismal league form of late as they face Harrogate Town in an all-Yorkshire clash at Wetherby Road.

Sam Collins said he was looking for his players to show more fight and desire and what better way to put that into action than a win on Saturday?

It’s been a whirlwind couple of months for Torquay United since the arrival of Gary Johnson and he’s got them believing again.

A trip up from the coast to Boreham Wood will be arguably his toughest test yet as the Gulls look to continue their superb run.

Two of the National League North’s form sides go head-to-head when Altrincham entertain Stockport County at Moss Lane.

The Hatters have shown their cup pedigree a number of times already this season but have a job on their hands to take a win away from Phil Parkinson’s men.

Managerless Wrexham have another shot at cup glory after their midweek FA Cup exit to Newport County.

Stand-in boss Graham Barrow says an appointment is imminent but takes the reigns for the Dragons against Boston United who have an exceptional away record this season.

John Still’s Barnet side have struggled to put any sort of a win together in recent weeks but the cups have been their release this season.

They’ve had brilliant results in the FA Cup and FA Trophy and will be hoping for more of the same on Saturday when Jerry Gill brings his Bath City side to the Hive.

Dean Brennan has been quick to quash any rumours of a 'crisis' at Billericay Town and they will look to prove it on the pitch at Edgar Street on Saturday.

Ricay travel to Hereford who will be looking to show their win last week isn't a flash in the pan.

Two of the National League's form sides face off as Dagenham & Redbridge make the trip to Ebbsfleet United.

Both sides have seen superb turnarounds in form lateley and won't want to surrender their momentum too easily.
