Brackley Town v Chester
Everything points to a cup classic in this all-National League North tie. Brackley Town got the better of Chester joint-managers Anthony Johnson and Bernard Morley on their way to winning the whole thing in 2018, pictured.
The Saints have looked unstoppable of late, particularly at home where they haven’t lost a competitive game at St James Park since February.
Chester on the other hand might be hoping the cup can provide a welcome reprieve from their iffy form – they’ve won just once since mid-September.
York City v Altrincham
The one plus point for York City after losing to Altrincham in the FA Cup first round earlier this month is the opportunity of swift revenge.
The Robins’ 1-0 win in Bootham Crescent’s last ever match in the famous old competition was hard to take for the Minstermen.
So expect Steve Watson not to allow similar to happen on Saturday in the Trophy, especially after City first National League North loss at Curzon Ashton last weekend.
Maidstone United v Dartford
Not just a Kent derby of course, but one with scores to settle from last weekend.
The sides met in the National League South last Saturday and if this is anywhere near as good as that 2-2 thriller, fans are in for a real treat.
Steve King and John Still both fancy a really good run in the competition so could another classic be in store?
Peterborough Sports v Kettering
If you are determined to see some goals this weekend, can we point you in the direction of Lincoln Road?
We can’t promise, of course, but there’s likely to be value for money on offer. Peterborough Sports have 38 to their name already in the BetVictor Southern Premier Central.
Kettering, meanwhile, have ten goals in three games under Paul Cox’s tutorage. While needless to say we can’t be held accountable for a goalless draw, this should be an entertaining one!
King’s Lynn Town v Hereford
Hereford head to the Norfolk coast with many penning this one as a foregone conclusion. The Bulls would love some silverware but face an uphill task to defeat their National League North counterparts.
The Linnets sit top of the pile where league form is concerned and haven’t tasted defeat at the Walks for over a year – also, top scorer Adam Marriott has 21 in all competitions this season.
For Hereford, their leaky defence might give Russell Slade cause for concern. They’ve conceded 11 goals in four games, last weeks 5-1 drubbing at the hands of Altrincham will still be ringing in their ears.
