The lethal Bromley striker now has an incredible 134 goals in the competition - more than any other player in the division’s history.
He joked after Saturday’s live TNT Sports win over Maidenhead United that it’s just because he’s spent most of his career at the level but his manager is having none of it.
Cheek scored twice in front of the cameras to increase his tally even further, with Oldham Athletic striker James Norwood not too far behind.
It was his fourth goal in four matches and boss Andy Woodman says there’s so much more to come from the predator and thinks he will become a certified Bromley legend.
“The guy is a goal machine in this league - I’m just delighted he’s on my team!” he explained after the reliable striker starred once again with two first-half goals to render the live game all-but over by the break.
“I don’t know how he does it sometimes, I’ll be honest. Some of the goals he gets he’s off balance - falling backward, falling sideways.
“I wouldn’t give Michael Cheek away to anyone! Am I surprised the club has managed to keep hold of him? Yes and no, really. I think I’ve been a factor in that. I’ve shown a lot of belief in Michael, and I think I have helped him in his game and he’s repaid my faith in him.
“We’ve given him a new contract, he’s here for another few years and I’m sure there’s more to come. He loves it here, the fans love him and he is scoring goals again.
“Every club needs a legend. I think Michael Cheek when he finally finishes here will be known as a Bromley legend.”
