In-Form Ainge Happy To Keep Harrogate Firing

Harrogate Town are now top of the Vanarama National League North on goal difference after striker Simon Ainge got another hat-trick for the side in the 3-0 win over Tamworth.

Striker Simon Ainge says while he is pleased to be keeping on the score-sheet it is the results that are the most important thing to him, writes Tom Feaheny.

After scoring in yet another game, Ainge told the clubs website.

"The hat-trick is nice but the three points and the way we managed the game was very good for us."

The former defender who was moved forward at the start of 2017 explained why he has scored so many goals.

"I am strong in the air, I have an understanding with the wingers, I almost have an instinct for it, I played centre-back so I know what I used to not like playing against so I try and get into those positions, from the spot I have that confidence."

They next face Blyth Spartans on Monday with Ainge hoping their full-time training will come into use.

"We need to keep ticking the games off, we want to look at it again in January, we are feeling fitter being a full-time team and that can help us hopefully."
