Howes Happy To Help Dowson This Time As Cards Get Keeper

By Sam Elliott

New Woking goalkeeper Sam Howes hopes good things come to those who wait.

The Cards have signed the glovesman after his contract at Watford came to an end.

He came very close to joining the club last season but a deal couldn’t be done - he later went on to sign for Eastbourne Borough.

But manager Alan Dowson the ex-West Han prospect his number one target following the club’s return to the National League.

He knows all about his ability having borrowed the former England U19 man when he was in charge at Hampton.

“There were a few offers from elsewhere but I felt this was the best one for me,” the player told the club’s video service.

“The manager has helped me over the years so maybe it’s above time I gave something back to him.

“I nearly came here last season on loan but for one reason or another it didn’t quite happen. I’m glad I now have the chance.”

He added: “I’ve been to watch games and the crowds are always with the players.

“It’s going to be a learning curve and I can’t wait to test myself.”

Meanwhile young prospect Jack Skinner has agreed to play for the club next season.
