Howell Wants Improvements Despite FA Cup Progression

Eastbourne Borough defeated Carshalton Athletic 4-3 on Saturday after taking a 4-1 lead, Jamie Howell knows his side still have a little bit of work to do to improve.

Over the past few weeks it has been a good run for Eastbourne Borough who sit tenth in the Vanarama National League South and progressed to the third qualifying round of the FA Cup, writes Tom Feaheny.

After their victory, Howell spoke to Eastbourne Borough's sports news.

"We got to 4-1, we had the chances, we were playing then in the space of 15 minutes we were hanging on a little bit, it became a bit of a basketball game.

"Some of the football was really good, but we know we have to defend a little better. Some of the decision making needed to be a little better."

They will next face Bognor Regis Town in the third qualifying round, Howell says the club are aiming to continue their FA Cup journey as they know how important the competition is.

"It would be fantastic, we would like to make memories from this competition, the club has been involved in some good games in the past, now we would like to keep the games coming in this competition."

Howell says the improvements they aim to make will take a bit of time.

"We were exciting when we got forward, we do have some defensive frailties, that will take time to adjust and prepare, during the next few weeks and months of the training we will get involved in."
