Howell Says Shots Switch Was An Easy Decision For Him

The departures at Dagenham continue as midfielder Luke Howell has been announced as Aldershot’s next new signing.

The 31-year-old takes the Daggers summer exits into double figures while for the Shots their second summer signing offers great experience.

The former Lincoln City, Gillingham and MK Dons man told their official website that it wasn’t a difficult decision to move to Hampshire.

“As soon as I knew the gaffer was interested, this was the place I wanted to come. Having played against Aldershot Town a few times I knew about the club, their style of play and the fanbase, so it was an easy decision,” said Howell.

“When you’re in a team that plays to your strengths, it brings the best out of you, and that was a big factor in why I came here. Everyone loves the way a Gary Waddock team plays, and it feels like a natural fit for me.

“I like to get the ball down and play, and I think I can bring some experience to the team. I’ve played a lot of games in the Football League and at this level, and I’ve been quite successful, so I hope I can help secure promotion, which is what everyone at the club is aiming for.”

Who will Aldershot come up against on the first day of the season? Find out on Wednesday when the fixtures are released.
