Steve Housham praised his side after they finally got points on the board after beating the North-East side away from home, writes Tom Feaheny.
Reflecting on their first victory of the campaign Housham said they deserved it.
“The shooting practice paid off at last! But in all seriousness it probably could and should have been more than the one goal.
He added: "We had chances to kill game off, we didn't but we got that win."
After four losses in a row Housham knew how important that win was.
“It’s great to get that first win under our belts Blyth is always a difficult place to get a result and the players were tremendous today. It was a great team performance. It will provide confidence."
They next face a Darlington side who lost their first game of the season yesterday and Housham is hoping they can get that first home win on the board now.
“Hopefully we can use this as a springboard and our fans will respond with a guard turn-out against Darlington on Saturday, we know how important that game will be."
