Homework Done, Wilkinson Wants That Elusive FA Cup Run

There is no excuse at all for either Wealdstone or Faversham to be under prepared for Saturday's FA Cup tie.

The Bostik League South club popped their heads around the door to see the Stones thrash Poole Town 4-1 on Monday night.

Then, 24 hours, Wealdstone's management travelled to Kent to watch them overcome Sittingbourne 1-0.

Stones manager Bobby Wilkinson is well aware that Faversham will pose a real threat this weekend. They have already beaten higher ranked Tonbridge Angels in the last round.

The Vanarama National League South club want a third home win on the spin but they know they are likely to find it harder than the two others after scoring seven times.

Wilkinson said: "Both clubs have done their homework. Us playing Monday allowed us to take a look at each other - you can't leave any stone unturned, especially with the FA Cup.

"It's just too important. There is no point taking any risks and we know they have players who will cause us issues.

"They will have seen us play very well for about seven minutes in the first half against Poole... hopefully they left at half-time!

"The second half wasn't so fantastic but we are just delighted to get those two home wins over the weekend."

Wilkinson added: "We won't take them lightly. We wouldn't have done that if they were bottom of the table anyway.

"They will go for it, they've got nothing to lose. We need to be professional and make full use of our home advantage.

"I have been in football for a long time, but never have I had even a semi decent FA Cup run. Maybe a change of club will bring a change of fortune!"
