Home Help Can Take Flying Spennymoor To New Heights

Spennymoor Town may have made it ten competitive wins in a row at Brewery Field by beating one of the talked-about teams but manager Graeme Lee is keen to keep his players on their toes.

The Moors made the perfect start this weekend as the bettered much-tipped Chester.

They won the National League North opener 3-0 with midfielder Isaac Fletcher at the double but Lee was quick to say there’s room for improvement.

Although delighted at the display, one quarter of an hour period didn’t impress the boss but he was none the less a happy man.

“I’ve nit picked a little with them,” he said after. “We had a 15 minute spell when we invited them into the game and we lost our shape.

“We then got hold of the game and before long we’ve killed them off. We didn’t stop and it was a fantastic opening day, we got our goals at important times - we played very well.”

Lee says his team can mix it with the best after they brushed off a side whose summer business drew title predictions from a rival manager.

“If we play with the right intensity we can hurt any team in this league,” the Spennymoor boss said. “When we reach that intensity the quality shows through.

“It’s always the unknown, the first game of the season. But we were on the front foot from the first moment and it’s a great start.”

Next up for the North East club is a trip to Leamington on Saturday.
