Jamie Vermiglio had previously called for patience and insisted he wasn't phased by their lack of transfer activity.
“I’m already happy with the squad I’ve got. The players we bring in need to be quality, experienced and know the level," he said last week.
“There’s a lot of time and effort going in to do the due diligence to make sure we’re getting things right."
Enter their first acquisition, Chris Holroyd. The 32-year-old arrives at Victory Park after his release from Wrexham.
The former Brighton and Preston forward bolsters the Magpies' front line.
"I’m delighted to have signed on for Chorley and can’t wait to get stuck in to pre-season," Holroyd told the club's website.
"I’ve heard great things about the club and I know I’m joining a really talented squad, a group of winners, who are ambitious about what we can achieve together this season."
