The Brakes lost 1-0 to Southport at home on Saturday, though Paul Holleran believed they put their best performance in, writes Tom Feaheny.
He told the club's website after the defeat.
"The shape of the team was a lot better, for long periods in this game we made chances, we kept asking Southport questions, we had good control.
He added: "We just couldn't find that bit of quality, in this league it is harder to score and easier to concede."
Leamington remain on three points after that third game, with Holleran optimistic at the way the season has started, due to a number of different factors.
"For us it was tough to take, we are disappointed, we have had to put a few square pegs in rounds holes during the first week, we have Kidderminster and Stockport next so it doesn't get any easier but if we keep showing the signs we have shown, we will be
competitive."
