Holleran Sees Felix Depart But Brings Dodd Back

Leamington boss Paul Holleran has moved quickly to fill the gap left by the departure of Kaine Felix by bringing Matty Dodd back to the club from Stourbridge in a deal to the end of the season.

Twenty-two-year-old Felix has decided to leave the Brakes.

He linked up with the club in November having been released by league rivals York City, and made the last of his fifteen appearances last Monday evening against West Bromwich Albion.

Brakes boss Paul Holleran admitted that commuting from his home over eighty miles away was having a detrimental effect: “The travelling was just becoming too much for Kaine and was affecting him.

“He was having to make a near 180-mile round trip for home games, and while we are disappointed to be losing him, after having a chat we both felt it was in our best interests for him to try and get fixed up with a club closer to home.”

Pacey winger and expert penalty taker Dodd was a popular figure in his first spell at the club and made 119 appearances, scoring 26 goals before leaving in March 2015.

He returned with Stourbridge in a Buildbase FA Trophy tie earlier this season, scoring the only goal on his 100th appearance for the Evo-Stik League Premier side, but Brakes fans are sure to forgive him for this as he still showed he has a great affection for the club during his time away, getting in on the after match celebrations following the play-off victory last season and even more memorably invading the pitch with Richard Batchelor after Courtney Baker-Richardson's stoppage time equaliser in the play-off semi-final at Redditch United the previous season!

Holleran was pleased to have Dodd back on board, telling the club`s official website: “The opportunity arose to sign Matty again and we are delighted to have him back. He did well for us before and has done well while he's been away from the club. I felt he would have a positive impact on the squad. He's experienced, he can nick and goal and assist and he is a popular character in the dressing room.”

Meanwhile the relevant paperwork has been submitted to the FA to extend the loan of Daniel Udoh from SkyBet League Two side Crewe Alexandra for a further month.

The young striker has impressed in his six appearances so far, scoring 3 goals, and the news will be a huge boost to Brakes survival chances.
