Hodges Expresses `Pride` At History-Making Cup Win

By Steve Whitney

Truro City manager Lee Hodges expressed his pride at guiding the club into the First Round proper of the Emirates FA Cup for the very first time following their 2-0 victory at Hampton & Richmond Borough on Saturday.

"To be part of helping to create history for the club and Cornish football as a whole is really special," he said. You could tell by the reaction of the players and the supporters at the end of the game on Saturday exactly how much it means to everyone.

"It was an even game; we knew it would be and the first goal was always going to be vital. Thankfully we got it and then Tom McHale made a brilliant penalty save before we were able to make the game safe with a second goal.

“The celebrations at the end were fantastic and a reward for the hard work that has been put in to get us this far.

"We will now look forward to the First Round draw this evening. This competition has always excited me and we will see where the next challenge takes us.

"It is great for everyone involved with the club"
