Hess Not Pointing The Finger Of Blame At His Players

Andy Hessenthaler refuses to dig out his Eastleigh players despite a third defeat in a row.

The Spitfires lost 2-0 to Maidenhead on Tuesday following a heavy reverse at Harrogate and a home loss to Ebbsfleet.

Hessenthaler didn’t point the finger of blame at his squad but instead at Lady Luck.

He says Eastleigh’s injury list is crippling and in an interview with the club’s website the manager was quick to shelter his players from blame.

“We’re not getting the rub of the green at the moment,” he said. “It’s frustrating but I can’t fault the boys’ performance.

“I thought first half we were in the game as much as them, but we have to take our chances.

“We’ve hit the post, Mark Yeates should have scored and we also had a shot and header blocked on the line.

“But if we keep working hard and stick together, then things will change.”

Eastleigh face AFC Fylde on Saturday looking to put their poor run to an end with their second home victory of the season.
