St Albans City have announced that Ben Herd has signed a new one-year deal for the 2017/18 season.

The popular defender (pictured) made forty-two appearances last season, scoring one goal away at Concord Rangers which was selected for the 2016/17 `Non-League Challenge`.

Manager Ian Allinson was pleased with the news: “I’m really pleased Ben has committed to the club for another year. As a local lad I know he really enjoyed his time here last season, his experience will yet again be vital with some of the younger players we have coming through.”

The club also announced the signing of Percy Kiangebeni, who joins from Ryman League Premier Division side Enfield Town.

Formerly with Thurrock, Kiangebeni is a powerful defender who made thirty-three appearances for the Town last season.

Allinson said the following of Kiangebeni’s arrival: “We have been monitoring Percy for a while now and we have been extremely impressed in what we have seen towards the end of the season. Again, he is a good age for us and I know a number of clubs were vying for his signature so I’m pleased we managed to get this across the line”.
