Heed Impress Watson After 'Important Win' At Bees

Gateshead boss Steve Watson hailed his side after getting back to winning ways against Barnet.

Goals from Scott Boden and Luke Armstrong secured the Heed's first win in three league games and Watson thought the win was vital to their play-off charge.

"That was a really important win," he told the club's official YouTube service. "The spell we've been through, people make it sound like a horrendous month, it wasn't that bad.

"I was delighted with the effort today, we played really well first-half but there wasn't a great deal of clear cut chances for either side.

"Second-half, we knew they'd [Barnet] come out fighting because they've had a great week and they've got a lot of good players they can shuffle the pack with.

"We knew we'd have a spell where we would be on the back foot but for the most part, I thought we coped with that well.

"We've done great so far this season but we're under no illusions how hard it's going to be. We've got a taste for it now we're in and around the play-offs and nobody wants to miss out.

"The belief is there and with every game that comes and every minute the lads are learning, the belief will continue."

Where next?

Chesterfield's Stats Don't Really Add Up For Manager Martin Martin Allen said his side suffered an FA Cup hangover as they drew 1-1 with Eastleigh, their eighth draw in a row as they set some strange records on Saturday.
