Heed 'Building A Squad Of Locals Who Give Their All'

Gateshead manager Steve Watson has today added to his squad with a former Newcastle United player.

Jack Hunter, 20, has signed for the National League club after the midfielder left St James’ Park.

“It’s a great chance to possibly play 40 games a season,” he told the club’s website after signing.

“I really think I need that for my development at this time in my career. It’s a place where I can learn valuable experience.

“Steve is building a squad of local players, so we’re going to have a bunch of players who are going to give their all.

“I came and had a discussion with the manager and we discussed the way that we will be playing football and that is something I bought into,” he added.

“I was very impressed with how he came over and he’ll be a really good influence and help me progress.”
