Heat On The Leaders This Evening As The Temperatures Plunge

By Sam Elliott

There’s eight games ahead of us this evening with things sure to catch fire as conditions get colder.

The temperatures are plummeting but so many of the sides in action are look up and the games coming later on could tell us plenty.

There’s National League Cup action too, with FC Halifax Town and Middlesbrough’s young guns both looking to get off the mark in Group C after both sides opening defeats in the new competition.

Wealdstone take on Southampton and the Stones are also chasing their first points.

The National League North was heating up long before the cold snap!

Chorley are sitting on top but two of the sides who have come from nowhere are looking to make things uncomfortable for them.

Kidderminster Harriers are seven unbeaten now and after a long wait for a home win, they’re looking to make it two inside four days when South Shields visit Aggborough.

But it’s Buxton wh move into third this weekend after they stunned Scunthorpe United. Brackley Town make the trip this evening. Both challengers move within a point of top spot with victory in the hours ahead.

Curzon Ashton could find themselves in second place if they win at Marine and other results go their way. After shocking Southport on Saturday, Peterborough Sports plan to inflict more damage when they head to Darlington.

On Monday night, Luke Coulson handed Weston-super-Mare a win at Hemel Hempstead which takes them three points clear.

So the pressure is on those looking to overhaul them to keep up the pressure.

Boreham Wood and second place Truro City will both consider themselves capable and they play this evening looking to send out a clear message.

Dorking Wanderers have taken 10 points from a possible 12 but Slough Town have already won six times at Arbour Park.

Maidstone United are undefeated in seven now while Torquay United have earned just one victory in four. Both needs the promotion points on offer at Plainmoor.
