Hawks Edge Bad Tempered Affair

By Steve Whitney

Whitehawk won their first game of the new Vanarama National League South season in a bad tempered affair at the Enclosed Ground against Dartford.

Both teams had drawn their opening matches last weekend, but the Hawks` cosmopolitan side got off to a great start in front of a crowd of 322 when they were awarded a penalty in only the 4th minute for handball.

Saudi Arabian-born midfielder Ahmed Abdulla easily slotted the spot-kick past Darts keeper Darren Ibrahim.

It got more and more bad tempered as the game wore on and the Darts finished the first half with ten-men when they had Keaton Wood dismissed in the 44th minute for two bookable offences within a minute of each other!

The game became pretty scrappy with numerous fouls and the referee`s tally finished up being ten cards shown in total.
