Havant came from 2-0 down with ten minutes to go to snatch a fantastic point against their old enemy.
It appeared not to be their day when Alfie Rutherford missed a penalty with 20 minutes to go.
But the Hampshire derby had it all and Westleigh Park came alive when Dan Strugnell levelled with a minute to go after they had grabbed an 80th-minute lifeline.
On the way to defeat at half-time, the manager spoke passionately at the break - and it got the desired response.
“Once we addressed a few things at half time it felt more like a derby - and more like a game we wanted to win,” he told the club’s website.
“We wanted to tackle and we were much better in the second half. We made a game of it.
“The second half we were much better, the running off the ball, the tackling, the simple things that we talk about as a group we did much better.”
