Hawkridge, who left Sky Bet League One side Scunthorpe United by mutual consent yesterday having returned to Glanford Park following the completion of his recent loan with the Imps, has put pen-to-paper on a deal which will run until the end of the 2016/17 season.
Hawkridge had been with Scunthorpe since the summer of 2013 when he joined from Gainsborough Trinity for an undisclosed fee.
With Barnsley and Tranmere Rovers as a youth team player, he had spent just a solitary season at Trinity having made his mark at Hucknall Town and Carlton Town, appearing regularly for the latter between 2010 and 2012.
A virtual ever-present in 2013/14 as Scunthorpe finished runners-up in League Two, Hawkridge found first-team opportunities limited at Glanford Park during the second half of last season and as such finished the campaign on loan at Mansfield Town.
The 25-year-old has made twenty-five appearances for City in all competitions this season, scoring once.
