Hat-Trick Hero Parkin Focused On Firing York To Glory

Jon Parkin fired York City back into the National League North play-off picture with a hat-trick against basement club North Ferriby.

The experienced forward, who signed a new deal with the Minstermen last week, hit York’s first treble since April 2010.

It helped secure a 4-1 victory at Grange Lane and push York up to tenth and just three points off the top seven.

Parkin, who has now scored 36 goals for York City during the calendar year, told BBC York: “That’s not too bad, is it? I’m delighted with that but it’s not about how many goals I score.

“I’m at the back end of my career and it’s about this club getting three points every Saturday - hopefully my goals can help towards that.

“I’d rather have 15 goals and us be top of the league. It’s nice to score goals as a striker but my priority is this club being successful.”
