Hartlepool's Harrison: It Just Wasn’t Good Enough

Hartlepool United's wait for a first Vanarama National League win continues after they suffered a fourth defeat of the season at home to AFC Fylde.

Craig Harrison's men have picked up just two points so far following relegation from the Football League.

Things didn't improve for them today as they failed to score for a second successive match as Fylde ran out 2-0 winners.

Henry Jones netted for the visitors just before half-time and then Danny Rowe made history by scoring his 100th goal to make him the club's all-time record goalscorer with six minutes to go.

Boss Harrison knows things must improve for Pools and he gave a scathing post-match assessment.

"It just wasn’t good enough – full stop," he told the club's website.

"Nobody involved was good enough today and it needs to be better because that is not the standard we need to be at and what is demanded from everyone.

"We have got to get our heads down, watch the footage back tonight and then with the lads tomorrow – we don’t want any excuses from anyone, including myself.

"We started the game reasonably well but once we conceded another sloppy goal we just seemed to wilt and the belief looked like it got sucked out of us.

"The fans have got every right not to be happy and we can’t hide behind anything – everyone is lucky to be involved in professional football and we need to realise it."
