Harriers 'Heroes' Have Been Caught In The Eye Of A Storm!

Russ Penn always knew he would have to batten down the hatches early into his latest Kidderminster career move.

It looked like a fearful first half of February for the struggling Harriers with trips to home untouchables King’s Lynn, Farsley Celtic and Gateshead, another side very strong in front of their fans, all inside the past fortnight.

But not only have they taken seven points from those demanding journeys, but they have kept three clean sheets.

Penn was last week put in charge until the end of the season after interim manager Jimmy Shan stepped up to the National League with Solihull Moors.

He left the new man with a strong platform but it was a strong wind he had to deal with at Gateshead as they returned with a 0-0 draw have won in Yorkshire days before.

“I’m immensely proud of the team,” he told the club’s YouTube channel. “If you would have offered me four points from two difficult away games at Gateshead and Farsley, I would have bitten your hand off!

“Under two storms to keep two clean sheets is not only heroic, but it makes me proud.

“I said to the lads at half-time if we can’t win it, don’t lose - the conditions made things impossible.

“It’s a mini season. When I took over we had 14 games and now 12 left. This weekend it’s another big club and we’ve got to be ready.

“York are up there, they’re looking to win the league. It’s my old club, they’ve got a very good following and it adds to the occasion.”
